This is Not Just a Vernissage
Midnight Zone begins with a vernissage at Museum Tinguely and flows into a summer night of art, open air and a riverside party.

This summer, Basel's cultural calendar welcomes a striking new highlight with the opening of Julian Charrière: Midnight Zone — an immersive exhibition celebrating one of the most compelling voices in contemporary art.

Taking place on the evening of Tuesday, 10 June 2025, the vernissage promises more than just an introduction to the artist’s latest work.
It's an invitation to step into the season with style, surrounded by art, conversation, and music, all set against the scenic backdrop of Solitude Park.
Hosted by Museum Tinguely, the event begins at 6.30 pm, with a series of welcome remarks from prominent figures including Per-Olof Attinger, Secretary of the Board of Roche Holding AG and Board Member of Museum Tinguely AG; Kaspar Sutter, Government Councillor of the Canton of Basel-Stadt; and Roland Wetzel, Director of Museum Tinguely.
The exhibition’s title, Midnight Zone, hints at the mysterious and introspective depths of Charrière’s work, which often blends science, history and environmental themes into captivating visual narratives.

Guests can expect to encounter installations that challenge perception and invite reflection, an ideal pairing with a warm June evening by the Rhine.
As twilight falls, the evening transforms into a full summer fête, with music by DJ Timnah setting the tone for a relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere.
The celebration continues late into the night, with an afterparty from 11 pm for those who wish to keep the conversation and the rhythm going.

Admission is free and open to all, with no prior registration required. Speeches will be interpreted in sign language, ensuring an inclusive experience for a diverse audience.
Whether you’re drawn by the art, the company or the promise of a summer night well spent, this is one occasion not to miss.
