Nothing About This Classical Watch is Actually Classical
As MB&F approaches its twentieth anniversary, the independent Swiss watchmaker presents Special Project One, the first release in its newly launched Special Projects collection.
More than a new model, SP One signals a creative return to the brand's roots, shaped by instinct and artistic vision rather than commercial strategy or market trends.
This timepiece was born from a rediscovery of old sketches and exploratory ideas that had been resting in MB&F’s creative archive.
What emerged was a watch that exists between the brand’s two main pillars.
It does not belong to the futuristic Horological Machines or the classical Legacy Machines, but instead defines a unique identity of its own.
At the centre of SP One are three fundamental elements of mechanical watchmaking, the barrel, the balance wheel and the dial, all appearing to float within an open circular space.
The effect is enhanced by front and rear sapphire crystals, offering a clear view through the movement while concealing its structural supports to heighten the illusion.
Encased in a 38 millimetre case shaped like a polished stone, SP One is MB&F’s most compact wristwatch to date.
The bezel-free case and detached lugs add to its organic feel while preserving the brand’s commitment to three-dimensional design.
The in-house calibre is manually wound and includes a tilted dial using conical gearing, a suspended barrel, and MB&F’s signature balance wheel at the two o’clock position.
The movement offers a 72-hour power reserve and is finished to the highest artisanal standards.
Two limited versions are available, one in 18-carat red gold with an anthracite flange and another in platinum with a sky blue flange.
SP One is a statement of freedom, imagination and timeless innovation.
