Italy has been officially selected as the host nation for the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup, with the historic city of Naples welcoming the world’s most prestigious sailing event in spring and summer 2027.

This will mark the first time the America’s Cup and the Louis Vuitton Cup are held in Italy, a nation with a rich and passionate legacy in competitive sailing.

Set against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Vesuvius and the azure waters of the Gulf of Naples, the 38th edition promises to be an unforgettable celebration of maritime excellence.

Naples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Europe’s oldest cities, will provide a uniquely atmospheric setting for the regattas.

Italian Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, played a pivotal role in the bid and highlighted the Cup’s potential to boost tourism, promote marine education, and accelerate urban regeneration efforts, particularly in Bagnoli, where team bases will be established.

The project is expected to support environmental recovery and provide a long-term economic and social legacy.

Echoing this sentiment, Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti affirmed the government's commitment to revitalising Bagnoli and positioning Naples as a centre for international sporting excellence.

Naples’ Mayor, Gaetano Manfredi, underscored the transformative power of hosting the event, forecasting significant economic impact and a reinvigorated global image for the city.

Team New Zealand CEO Grant Dalton expressed his enthusiasm for Naples as host, calling it a venue brimming with passion and authenticity.

Acknowledging Italy’s fervent fan base and Luna Rossa’s competitive strength, he described the decision as both strategically sound and emotionally resonant.

The America’s Cup Defender, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, welcomed the announcement, citing Italy’s deep-rooted connection to the competition and the vibrant sailing culture of Naples.
