Bushmills' 46-Year-Old "Secrets of the River Bush" Makes History
Bushmills releases its oldest whiskey ever: a rare 46-year-old single malt matured since 1978, limited to 300 bottles worldwide.
Earlier this spring, Bushmills Irish Whiskey made headlines with the release of its oldest and most exclusive expression to date: 46-Year-Old Secrets of the River Bush.

Launched in March, this ultra-prestige single malt is the oldest Irish whiskey ever bottled and has since captivated collectors and connoisseurs alike.
Matured in Oloroso sherry butts from Jerez, Spain since 1978, the whiskey is a deep mahogany spirit, rich with notes of dark fruits, apricot, caramel and oak.
On the palate, warming spices of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg give way to sweet cherries, roasted coffee, and toffee.
Only 300 bottles were produced, each encased in a handcrafted walnut box inspired by the River Bush that runs through the distillery’s historic site.
Just 38 bottles were made available in Ireland at €12,000 each.
Master Blender Alex Thomas describes the release as “history in the making,” capturing nearly half a century of careful maturation.
The unveiling of Secrets of the River Bush sets the stage for Bushmills' continued innovation, including the recent debut of 26-Year-Old Crystal Malt, a unique addition to its Prestige Collection, crafted using crystallised malted barley and offering flavours of caramel and creamy chocolate.
